I spent a lot of time last year watching GroundEffected on youtube. I really vibe with his humor in his videos, and of course, his painting style. He makes it look easy. I want to improve my painting, so I printed a godzilla figure from makerworld.
Looking quite good for a first paint job
Since this was meant to be a practice piece, I didn't take that much photos. This also took like one day to paint. Which doesn't really fit my "slow and unsteady" theme. 😕
I think I scaled the print a bit larger than the original size. I was actually surprised of the quality of the Bambu lab P1S, 0.4mm nozzle, and I think I printed it at 0.08mm layer height. The layer lines just disappear with the scales and details of this piece. I used Polymaker Panchroma Arctic Teal for the filament, and I will say, I just love the Panchroma line from Polymaker. It has almost that matte/satin finish that helps hides layer lines. And it's really easy to print. I haven't had any issues printing with it.
Raw print + temu airbrush paints
With a layer of black primer, it almost doesn't look like it's 3D printed
For the primer, I used ArKom's waterbased black primer. I had to mix the waterbased temu airbrush colors to get some of the colors I wanted.
I also did some dry brushing to bring out the details. And to be honest, I think I overdid it on the spikes on his back. I wanted it to be lighter at the base and get progressively darker towards the top - like it was charging his atomic breath (I havent watched the latest installments of Godzilla :( ) But I went overboard with the dry brush and completely destroyed my vision.
