Razer Leviathan V2 X – A Quartz Repaint

Hey there!

Here's my first proper entry into the new era — and yes, I'm starting with pink!

Around 5 years ago, my friend sold a modded Razer Leviathan . Someone saw that and they messaged him. He then asked me if I could do the same. 😏 I hesitated at first because of the speaker grills - it could be a bit difficult to do - procure a correct shade of pink mesh, re-apply the mesh, etc. In the end, I didn't bother with it and left the grill/mesh black.

Looking cute in Quartz

This project is one of the first I accepted when I got decent equipment. Before accepting any project, I usually do research first: disassembly guides, how complicated the parts are, whether I have the right tools. etc. At the time I could not find any disassembly videos, so I said, "If this fails, at least I will have my own speaker" hahah.

I was able to find an almost new one from FB Marketplace - talk about timing

My main concern was the grill/mesh and how to take it off from the speaker body. Well it turned out to be quite simple - it was held in place by snappy tab things. (I think I recorded footage of me trying to figure out how to disassemble this bad boi. I will have to look for it and update here...)

Mesh assembly pops off

After that hurdle, the rest was a straight unscrew-remove stuff-make sure not to break anything -
I chipped off a piece of this connector lol

Fortunately it wasn't that bad, and I am still able to replace the connector back. 😌 I removed the speaker drivers, the main board, and the buttons in preparation for painting.

Guts spilled out

I don't remember sanding the body as it would remove the texture, so I think I went straight to white primer. I used ArKom's white surfacer primer and I had to do multiple coats and passes because I was using an airbrush.

I was doing this in my room where I sleep 💀 which is not very healthy as these are lacquer paints and can cause -1hp -1hp -1hp to your lungs. As I did (and still dont) have a proper spray booth, make sure to wear your PPE.

My favorite apron has a duck

For the Quartz Pink, I used Hiro PLAS Orchid Pink. Coincidentally, I was in the middle of making a Mew figure, so I already had pink paint.

You can spot mew over there 👀

As with the white primer, I had to do multiple coats of the pink.

Unfortunately, I only have this photo to show. haha. Maybe I was too in-the-zone to take photos. Or maybe I was dying due to all the fumes in my room.

Anyway, here I could've done a better job at masking the back ports. There were some inconsistent places because of the the tapes.

It has a beveled edge which made masking it a bit difficult.

That's just about it. Simple, but it was a good confidence builder for future projects.

For the bottom sticker, I removed it using lighter fluid and re-placed it after painting

Since this was referred to me by my friend, I hope the one who requested this was happy and satisfied with the final product. And to you, as a viewer/reader, I hope you enjoyed this first post for my rebranded blog. Hope to see you on the next post.

Cheers!
