Envisage - A Poem

Good day friends! I just want to share with you this poem I wrote back in 2011. And whenever I read it, damn! I feel amazed! Haha. I don't even know how I was able to write something this long. Maybe because I had an inspiration back then. :> lol

This poem's title, Envisage, means "to conceive of as a possibility in the future; foresee" according to thefreedictionary.com. And you'll see why when you read it. This was written during our exams, and I needed a break from this thing called 'sparks' and write something that is not just about love for other people, but love for the environment as well. Well, here it is.

Envisage
I had a bad dream last night.
It was about a man and his corrupted soul with no sight.
He couldn't see except for his own selfish desires,
In his heart for the one person he admires.

He walked the Earth bearing his lack of consciousness.
He didn't care because he has a slow convalesce.
And he walked in a path of filthy, polluted air.
There were trash by his way, but still he didn't care.

He came across his love, walking across the street.
And a sparkle from his eye was visible from a few feet.
Suddenly, a tear gushed from the right corner of his left eye.
Then he murmured in a soft voice to himself, "Why?"

That night he was in deep thought. He couldn't sleep.
He tried releasing his feelings but all he did was to weep.
For minutes, hours and days of critically thinking,
He still couldn't come up with a little bit of something.

Until one day, he just woke up feeling peculiar about how things were going.
He started to think different. Finally! He woke up from his daydreaming.
The soul who was blind for all these years finally gained sight.
That there are far more beautiful reasons in this world for him to fight.

He saw how terrible things were happening in his surrounding.
Burnt plastic, scattered wrappers, and other things that pile up was never ending.
It won't be long until our community will turn into a wasteland.
Living in it will be brainless zombies who eat rotten food from a garbage can.

He thought of ways on preventing this catastrophe from happening.
He tried talking to individual persons to promote his movement, but it was not working.
So he just walked home, feeling dismayed, hoping that tomorrow he'll have his luck.
He went to bed, tucked in tight, wishing tomorrow he won't be stuck

The sun rose with golden rays extending from its corona to him.
But he was more awakened by the strange noises and panic within.
He stepped out to see what was going on outside.
The filth changed the world's climate and the environment nationwide.

And it was then that I woke up from this strange dream.
Will you still worry about your own selfish desires? Because our world is changing.
Let us do our part in protecting and preserving Mother Nature.
For us, and the next generation to have a brighter future.

So, what do you think? Let me know in the comments. :) I will be posting more of my works in the future so stay tuned. Writing is such a good hobby. Although it's hard to think and write, when you finish your work, you get that feeling of happiness and contentment because you expressed your emotions in ink.
