La Virgen Milagrosa

Hey guys! Last Friday, (May 16,2014) we had our last class in our summer class. And last Saturday, we went out to La Virgen Milagrosa, Badoc, Ilocos Norte to have fun and celebrate because we can finally start our summer vacation!

The story behind this saint is that there was a crate (or crates) that washed up on the sea. The fishermen found these crates along the boundary of Badoc and Sinait. In these crates were the Black Nazarene and the La Virgen Milagrosa statues.
The fishermen from Sinait took the Black Nazarene and the fishermen from Badoc took the La Virgen Milagrosa, which is now the Patron Saint of the town. It's not my first time going there, actually. We went there last February via the 2nd Sirib Express Ilocos Familiarization Tour by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN). Fantastic view, serene beach, and an uplifting chapel. A great way to de-stress from the pressures of school and just enjoy each others company.

The Chapel is located near the sea. Giving it that peaceful and tranquil feeling.

This outing was a "PCC Get-together" (Peer Counselors Club) but some of the other members could not attend and it ended up as a ECE Get-together. (Most of the members of the PCC are ECE students. lol. If you are a student of the MMSU College of Engineering, I encourage you to join this interest club. Trust me, a lot of crazy and fun stuff happening here!)

So we got there at about 12:30 pm (didn't have the knack to look at the time then, the scenery alone makes you lost in time) and rented a cottage to the north of the chapel. We unpacked our stuffs, served the food (and some drinks ;) ) and let the party begin! We laughed, sang, sprained some muscles, took a lot of photos, and most of all, had fun!

There is an estuary near the cottages, connecting a river and the sea. I think that's the reason why the beach is so clear.

In the middle of a game (I don't know what you call it, I think it's called chicken fight) Elmar sprained (I'm not sure if it was really a sprain, but it looked a bit nasty) his right shoulder. We rushed to the shore to help him and called for a 'masseuse' to massage and restore his sprained muscles.

On our way home, we ran out of gas! Haha! Luckily, we made it just before the gasoline station. But we had to push the Jeep because the gasoline station was elevated. Whew! Imagine if we ran out of gas midway home! That would be a lot of pushing. Well, that's that. Enjoy your remaining days of summer friends! Class opening is just around the corner.

Here a picture of Duaine sleeping in the jeep. Probably tired and a bit tipsy. We were laughing because the jeep had a sudden stop and he moved forward. lol. Cheers!
